Adel Safty leads a distinguished group of scholars, researachers, and practitioners in the field of leadership in a multidisciplinary, multicultural, and critical inquirey into leadership in various social contexts. They thus address issues related to leadership and Public Policy, Leadership and Management, Leadership and Capacity Building and Leadership and Self-Development.

Dr. Safty is also a graduate of the Leadership Programme of the Center for Creative Leadership (Greensboro, NC. USA), and a graduate of the JFK School of Government Leadership Programme of Harvard University.
Dr. Safty served as a tenured university professor and as Director of the government-funded Institute of International Studies in British Columbia, before joining the United Nations as a diplomat. Professor Safty is author and editor of 12 books. Among his publications, his book From Camp David to the Gulf (Black Rose, University of Toronto Press, Montreal and New York, 1992) was selected Publisher’s Choice in 1993 and a second edition appeared in 1997.
Prof. Safty served as Head of United Nations Mission, and President of the United Nations Leadership Conferences in the late 1990s that brought together distinguished leaders and delegates from over 100 countries. In 1997, Prof. Safty established the first ever UNESCO Chair in Leadership. In 2002, he established the second UNESCO Chair and was named Permanent UNESCO Chair in International Leadership.
