Synopsis

This is a true story about a husband and wife with their three small sons who chucked the modern way of living and moved to a remote mine in the wilds of Trinity County. For thirty years they bested the steep trail they had to hike to reach it. Their story is peppered with danger, near starvation and many encounters with rattlesnakes, wild animals and two crazy mountain men. It is a story of how hard work, ingenuity and a rugged pioneer spirit turned a small flat along a wild river into a place with a productive mine and jewelry shop. The wonder and beauty of California's northern forested mountains come to life in this narrative.
